Out of Everything I Tried to do to Make Myself Happy - This One Trick Worked The Best

It works nearly every time

How to be happy, mindfulness life, best self-improvement advice, happiness blog, how to be happy

Happiness can be a tricky thing. Especially when it comes to finding happiness by yourself.

It’s easy (or easier) to be happy when you are around other people, or with someone you love. The problem though, is that happiness fades if you are not happy by yourself.

So, we continue on the pursuit of happiness, trying new things with the goal of being happy with ourselves.

I’ve tried a lot of random things! But, this one trick worked the best!

Mindset shift

How you view the world, others and yourself is going to affect how you experience everything in your life.

If you naturally have a pessimistic mindset, you’re gonna be pretty damn miserable.

But, if you have an optimistic mindset, you will be joyful.

Now, this sounds pretty obvious. And, telling a pessimistic to cheer up is not going to do anything.

Regardless, what is clear is if you want to be happy, you need to shift your mindset to a positive one.

Prioritizing love

There is no happier and yet more confusing emotion than love.

We all struggle to put a real definition on the word, yet we all know exactly when we are feeling it.

It’s a beautiful thing.

Something I have talked about in the past is the “be love” philosophy I have started to embrace.

I’d be lying if I said I have successfully shifted my mindset to be fully in the be-love state, but every time I am in this state, I am happy.

Best of all, I’m happy no matter where I am.

It all starts by prioritizing love. You need to pick to love everyone - especially yourself.

Be love

The idea behind be-love is to act as if you are love. Think WWJD but replace the J with L.

When you are doing anything to or with yourself, ask yourself, “what would love do in this situation”.

  • Would love eat the salad or the fries?

  • Would love insult itself or be kind and compassionate?

  • Would love go to bed on time so you can be well-rested or would it scroll on TikTok?

Now, the same thing applies when interacting with anyone.

  • Would love say hi in excitement and give the person a hug or just nod?

  • Would love talk about someone behind their back or find some goodness to share?

  • Would love negatively judge someone before it knows them or would it be curious and get to know them?

In general, every time I’ve approached life with this mindset, I’ve been happier, and those around me have been happier to see me.

Closing remarks

Most of this will come off as far too simple, but simple can often be all that is needed to be happy.

How often have you found yourself effortlessly happy because you were in the right environment, because of a song, or because you were at peace?

Happiness is simple. Unfortunately, we are the ones who complicate it. Until now.
