Focus on This if You Want To Find Happiness
The most important happiness is self-happiness
You need to avoid one of the biggest mistakes people make when searching for happiness…
Looking for happiness in someone else.
You will never be truly happy if you are relying on someone else for that feeling. This is a trap many fall into when they first start dating.
Instead, the best thing you can do is to focus on self-happiness starting now.
What does self-happiness look like?
To achieve something, you need to know what you’re trying to achieve. If you haven’t had real self-happiness before, you’re going to have a hard time getting there.
Chances are you have a friend who has self-happiness.
They’re that person who is perfectly happy hanging out alone.
They probably enjoy going out to eat by themselves once in a while, seem to always be in a good mood and likely have travelled a place or two by themselves.
They’re so happy with themselves that they often would rather spend time alone.
But, they also know that socializing is good for them and they’re so happy with themselves that they still have a good time doing it.
Self-happiness is not with the person who can’t be alone.
It is not the person who distracts themselves with their phone when they are alone and is miserable when they have to spend a few minutes with their mind.
Obstacles to overcome to reach self-happiness
The road to self-happiness is as difficult as any. Just when you think you’ve gotten there, life throws another test at you.
On your journey, you’ll encounter a few obstacles.
1. The comparison trap
Thanks to social media, this is the most common obstacle. You’re constantly comparing yourself to people who’ve lived a completely different life than you, and yet you expect to have the same things.
2. Insecurities
The best of us still get insecure from time to time. It’s only natural, but they’ll prevent you from achieving self-happiness.
3. The mind
This will either be your best friend or your worst enemy. Most people are afraid of spending time alone with their minds. If you can’t, you won’t achieve self-happiness.
It’ll take a lot of work to overcome these obstacles. But if you build a few good habits, you can do it.
Habits you’ll need to build
1. Practicing gratitude
I’ve constantly talked about practicing gratitude, and that is because it works. When you become grateful for what you have, you stop comparing yourself to others, you stop being insecure, and your mind becomes your friend.
2. Mindfulness
Most people will think of meditation when you say mindfulness, but there are a lot of other activities or practices that can help you practice mindfulness. Doing so regularly will change your life.
3. Goal setting
One of the best ways to achieve happiness is to reach your goals. Progress breeds happiness. This means you should always be setting goals and checking them regularly. Let yourself feel the pleasure of attaining what you set your mind to.
4. Working out
The importance of working out cannot be stated enough. Aside from the clear physical and health benefits, it also helps make you happy. For one, you’ll see progress, which breeds happiness. But it also helps ramp up serotonin and dopamine levels while reducing cortisol levels (the stress hormone).
Implementing these habits will put you on the right track to achieve self-happiness.
Closing thoughts
The time to focus on self-happiness is now. It has never been more important. It’s truly the key to improving your overall quality of life.
It’ll help you stay positive and motivated and naturally help attract people who are good for you.
