The 5 Benefits of Expanding Your Mindset
Jump on the growth mindset trending train
The times of being closed off and locked in your world are done. The time to expand your mindset is here!
This is the way trends are going, but it is easier said than done.
Expanding your mindset can be painful, intimidating and daunting if you’ve been closed off for your entire life.
Staying in the world you’re familiar with can feel comfortable and safe.
So, why break out?
Why expand your mindset?
Well, the benefits are undeniable. Once you read them, you will agree.
Let’s dive in.
1. You will never stop learning
As your mindset expands, your desire to learn grows.
Your expanded mindset will also increase your curiosity, and curiosity is one of the most common traits of high-achievers.
Curiosity is what drives your desire to learn.
But, what’s so good about continuously learning?
Aside from the fact that in a way, knowledge is power, you will also become a way more interesting person.
That’s good because as you follow your curiosity, you will attract others who share those interests.
That means you can make new friends, or maybe even find a life partner (if you’re not already happily married).
If that’s not enough of a reason, those who continuously learn, have better health.
Learning is shown to:
Reduce stress
Expand your lifespan
Improve your memory
Offset cognitive decline
2. Life will never be boring again
Those who are curious, are never bored. Anytime they have any sign of boredom, all they have to do is dive into whatever they’re curious about.
It’s pretty simple.
And, it’s pretty great.
Expand your mindset and help eliminate your boredom.
3. You’ll spot opportunities
There are opportunities everywhere and those with an expanded mindset have an easier time spotting them.
That’s one of the reasons why the rich get richer. They know how to spot these opportunities and how to capitalize on them.
The first step is spotting these opportunities.
With an expanded mindset, you’ll be more open to other cultures, ideologies, and ways of thinking.
This doesn’t mean you’ll have to conform or live any different way. It’ll simply mean you’ll have an understanding, openness or general curiosity towards new or unusual things.
The best opportunities are often hiding in places in which few people know to look.
Or, they’re right there in front of them, but people can’t spot them because their mindset is closed off.
For example, the founder of Red Bull would have never discovered the original beverage if he hadn’t travelled to Asia when it was a lot less common.
Not to mention spot the opportunity to bring this beverage overseas, making a slight change to attract those in Europe and North America and marketing it according to specific markets.
His expanded mindset is why he was able to spot this opportunity.
4. You’ll make friends easily
As I mentioned earlier, expanding your mindset will lead you down a journey of continuous learning, making you more interesting.
But, I also mentioned it makes you more open to other cultures, ideologies and ways of thinking.
Naturally, that will lead you to make friends much more easily because you will attract cool people and be open and accepting of their ways.
Those who are closed off have a hard time making friends with people from other cultures and have a hard time accepting those who have different points of view.
The truth is though, it is okay to disagree with someone and any ideology or way of thinking. We believe what we believe because of what we’ve gone through in our lives and what we’ve been exposed to.
That doesn’t mean we can’t be friends.
Those with a closed mindset have trouble seeing that.
5. Your decision-making ability will improve
You will notice this benefit after the previous 4 benefits happen.
You will become a better decision-maker, and you know how I feel about decision-making.
But, in case this is your first time reading my work, let me explain it to you.
Every day you are faced with 35,000 decisions. Some of them you make subconsciously, but regardless, you face that many daily.
If you become 1% better at decision-making, the compound effects over a few years are absolutely incredible.
Your life is a series of decisions.
Become better at making decisions and your life will improve dramatically.
Expand your mindset, and you will become better at making decisions.
Conclusion
Expanding your mindset is one of the best things you can do to see self-improvement in the 21st century.
Life around us is changing rapidly and that change is accelerating.
If you live with a closed mindset, you will get left behind so fast that you won’t know what happened.
Don’t let that happen. It’s time to expand your mindset, my friend.
